Life to the Full

We call today Good Shepherd Sunday as in the gospel Jesus describes how he leads his sheep and they follow because they know his voice. Do we still hear Him today? Are we really listening for His call? I am reminded of one Sunday when the priest came out to start Mass but when he tapped the microphone and commented, ‘I don’t think it’s working’ the congregation replied, ‘And also with you’. They had heard him speak but were not listening to what was said. Today we answer the call to come to Mass but what do we hear anything beyond that? How can Jesus lead us to be the best that we can be?
The line that stands out most today is, “I have come so that they may have life, and have it to the full”.  Yet do we all really feel our faith is life-giving – or are some of us still thirsting for spiritual renewal, crying out for meaning in a fast paced world where we always seem to hanker after more. The Risen Christ presents himself as The Way forward. To follow His lead we must move as a community where we are all actively involved as Christ to one another and in this way we allow ourselves to be transformed by His Spirit. This will help us to see as Jesus sees and share his vision of fullness of life.
